One day, I was perusing the comic book section of Borders and stumbled upon Scarab, the last story series of David Mack's comic creation. I read it in the bookstore and immediately fell inlove with it. Once I became even more familiar with the characters, though Scarab will always have a special place in my heart (especially since Rick May's artwork is amazing!), I loved Kabuki-- the main character. Though I didn't have the resources to make her Noh agent outfit (because if I ever do this, I want it to be perfect!), I did know a thing or two about theater/movie make-up due to the classes I took during high school. I experimented with liquid latex make-up. . . and ended up with fairly amazing results.

I picked out this version of Kabuki because I wanted to wear that shirt, mostly, plus, it would be easily recognized by Kabuki fans. Eventually, I will buy the official shirt from Mack. I went to Comic Con and found David Mack at his booth. He loved the scar make-up. It was an awesome experience for me because I managed to give something back to my favorite artist in the world and the scar was very well received by other fans, which is also one of the best parts :D One fan even said "Well, this is my lucky day! I'm meeting the artist AND the model for the comic!" And when I tried to explain I wasn't anything official, she didn't believe me. Mack just laughed and said "Thanks for the good PR!"

I suppose this second version of my Kabuki costumes is a bit of a spoiler. lol But I wanted to do something different for the convention! I guess I won't explain this costume too much incase a beginner Kabuki reader stumbles across this place.

This was one of the best conventions I went to-- not only did I get to hang out with Mack for most of the day, I also finally met Stan Lee and Seth Green! You can view my convention pictures here :] It was definetely good times, if you can't tell. XD I also met Mandy Amano, who I believe will be famous one day! Her father runs Beckett Comics, which was the booth David was in for the con. :]
